SWARM BASEBALL

Are the Darien Athletic Association and the Darien Swarm the same entity?

The D.A.A. is the governing body residing over all Darien Swarm sports teams.  The D.A.A. supports several youth sport programs and is one of the only organizations that requires all players to maintain an acceptable scholastic level in school to participate on a Darien Swarm team.  All teams wear the Black and Gold Swarm colors.

Who can sign-up to play on a Swarm team?

All children may participate on a Swarm team. The Swarm believes strongly in holding open tryouts so that all children have an opportunity to participate on a travel team.

How many games are played during the season?

Swarm Baseball is designed to provide vertical growth for a player starting at the 9U level and following that player into high School. Each player will experience a higher level of competition and commitment as they progress through the various levels. The 9U/10U level will compete in a locally sanctioned travel league where they will participate in 20-30 games plus 1-2 tournaments. New for 2011, the 11U/12U/13U/14U levels will participate solely in tournament play.

How often do they practice?

All practices are subject to the discretion of the Head Coach.

Where do they practice and where are the games played?

Currently, all games are played at Hinsdale South High School in Darien. Practices can vary between several local facilities such as Hinsdale South and the Westmont Yard.

Is the Swarm considered a FULL-TIME travel program?

Yes.

How Long is the season?

The season generally runs from 01Apr-15Jul depending on tournament scheduling.

Can my player also participate in a local in-house baseball league?

Yes, a player can participate in a local in-house league but a full commitment to the travel team is preferred.

How much does is cost to play baseball for the Swarm?

Participation costs for baseball can vary from level to level. Prices range from $500.00-$1000.00 depending on the number of seasonal games and tournament participation for that particular team level.

How far do the teams travel?

9U/10 levels participate in a locally sanctioned league consisting of surrounding neighborhoods such as Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Westmont, La Grange and other.

11U/12U/13U/14U can travel to all locations within the State of Illinois and outside. this is dependant on the teams goals for that season.

Swarm 12U teams will participate in the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.
